The G.E.M.M Protocol for Clinicians
What is the G.E.M.M Protocol?
We say that the science of G.E.M.M. is complex – but its implementation is simple. That’s because it was developed by an experienced Nutritional Medicine clinician who sought to answer the difficult questions that all clinicians inevitably encounter.
Both Gut Disorders and Metabolic Imbalances are not only becoming increasingly common within the patient community but can also be clinically challenging. Addressing these issues is made even more challenging with the seemingly endless and inter-related array of diagnostic sub-categories – IBS, IBD, Gut Barrier Dysfunction, SIBO, Histamine Intolerance, Multiple Food Intolerance, Allergies, MCAS, Autoimmune Disorders and so on ... and that is without even adding the many metabolic and other physiological disorders which invariably stem from a gut-immune interface in disarray.
A different approach
G.E.M.M takes a completely different approach to solving the more difficult cases with which patients present. G.E.M.M. is much more than an approach to address Gut health. G.E.M.M. encompasses the entire philosophy of Natural Medicine, incorporating its principles within the body of science needed to repair human cells in whichever physiological system their function may be aberrant.
By targeting the Gut-Immune interface, G.E.M.M. successfully rebalances the many axes of dysfunction in distant organs. G.E.M.M. provides the foundation for restoring homeostasis wherever biochemical imbalances may have led to distressing symptoms and overt signs of disease.
In delivering a comprehensive therapeutic approach, G.E.M.M. encompasses many sciences, in particular Cell Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Nutrigenomics. Our many Accredited clinicians have found that G.E.M.M’s logical focus on addressing upstream biochemical imbalances has brought remarkable clinical results where other approaches have failed.

What G.E.M.M. isn’t
Unlike many of today’s approaches to Nutritional Medicine, G.E.M.M. does not require extensive – and expensive – testing prior to implementation. Where many current systems addressing gut health rely on anti-microbial therapeutics and probiotic supplements, G.E.M.M. utilises neither. Instead, G.E.M.M. adopts an approach that more closely mimics Nature in restoring homeostasis within the gut and its inter-connected immune network.
A key feature of G.E.M.M is that it harnesses the power of Nutrigenomics in selecting food and food-derived biomolecules.
Enrolling in the G.E.M.M Foundation Course can enhance your clinical skills
Why not enrol in the online Foundation Course, so that you too can become an Accredited member of the growing G.E.M.M. professional community? The Foundation Course is supported by annual Upskill professional development sessions which include new material to deepen your understanding of the principles – and practical clinical training with case studies and practice tips to ensure that your skills continue to grow.
A large and very active Facebook group supports your day-to-day interaction with fellow G.E.M.M clinicians as well as with your instructors. Our team of well-qualified and experienced Clinician Educators is always available to support your learning and clinical implementation.
*Enrolment pre-requisites
To be eligible to study the G.E.M.M Protocol, clinicians must be approved for the use of our practitioner-only label, Integra Nutritionals. Please note that clinicians who have undergone Bridging Training as part of the Integra Nutritionals application process, are ineligible to study the G.E.M.M Protocol.
What's included in the G.E.M.M. Foundations Course?
The Foundations Course will require that you set aside 12 hours, either in a block or in smaller sessions. The G.E.M.M. course will be accessible via the Dashboard under Courses, where you will see the Introduction and 6 modules. Modules 1 – 4 were professionally recorded at the Brisbane session in May 2019 and were subsequently professionally mastered to enhance your learning experience.

The Introduction is not part of the G.E.M.M. programme itself but if you are not well-versed in the science of nutrigenomics and the integral role of sulforaphane, we recommend that you watch this video first. G.E.M.M. draws widely on the actions of sulforaphane; its application within the G.E.M.M. Protocol will become much clearer with this prerequisite knowledge.
Before You Get Started
Your enrolment also includes a Learning Pack of printed materials which will be mailed to you as soon as your enrolment has been processed. Amongst the many items you will find in your folder, you will find a printed version of the key slides your instructors have used in their presentations. Impatient as you may be to get started with the Course, we suggest that you wait until you have the printed slides ready for note-taking as you listen to your instructors.
Your Learning Pack also includes the comprehensive fully-referenced G.E.M.M. Implementation Guide. Your instructors refer to certain sections in the guide, so best to have it beside you as you watch and listen.
TIP for successfully becoming Accredited: The assessment to become G.E.M.M-Accredited draws from the Implementation Guide and other printed material as well as the video modules. The instructors refer to material in the Implementation Guide but don’t necessarily teach everything included there. Please read on to see who can become G.E.M.M Accredited.
G.E.M.M. in Summary
G.E.M.M. leverages what is already known about cellular function to encompass the repair and restoration of the epithelial cells of the entire gut ecosystem.
G.E.M.M. allows the clinician to simultaneously – and non-invasively – target the key elements of the gut ecosystem, which in turn favourably modulates the function of distant organ systems.
The G.E.M.M. Protocol may be the missing gateway that connects gut health to a broader physiology in order to successfully manage both acute and chronic diseases, especially appropriate in difficult-to-treat cases.
Becoming an Accredited G.E.M.M. Clinician
An Accredited G.E.M.M Clinician differs from a G.E.M.M Trained Clinician whereby they have undergone additional assessment and annual re-accreditation education and evaluation of knowledge. This exceptional level of education supports you to not only implement the procotol as intended, but to navigate the subtle nuances that make G.E.M.M a personalised food and lifestyle program.
Those who hold qualifications in nutritional medicine modalities, and their clinical practice is nutrition-centric, may go on to become an Accredited G.E.M.M Clinician. Accreditation allows access to our Global Online Directory, referrals from our Clinician Education team, access to the G.E.M.M Accredited Marketing Kit, and VIP pricing to select education courses.
*Please note: As Cell-Logic have clinicians studying the G.E.M.M Protocol internationally, and qualifications vary by country, the nutritional medicine qualification criteria is decided at the discretion of the Cell-Logic education team, for both local and international applicants to become G.E.M.M Accredited.
Meet your Instructors

Dr Christine Houghton
PhD., BSc., R.Nutr.
Following 30 years in private practice as a Chiropractor and Nutritional Medicine clinician, Christine discovered the power of Nutrigenomics to impact human health.
This interest led her to enroll in a research-focused PhD whilst developing the technology needed for her company Cell-Logic to produce a nutraceutical grade broccoli sprout material. EnduraCell® yields the highest sulforaphane level of broccoli sprout products anywhere in the world.
Christine subsequently went on to formulate a range of high-end nutrigenomically-active supplements, the most recent of which have been developed as part of the G.E.M.M. Protocol.
She is an engaging speaker whose passion for her work is evident. She enjoys translating complex human biochemistry in order to share its clinical relevance with other clinicians.

Robert Thomas
ND
With extensive experience as both a clinician and an educator, Robert holds the position of Professional Educator with Cell-Logic, where he has played an integral role for the past four years.
As a Naturopathic practitioner, he has over three decades’ experience, encompassing many aspects of the natural medicine profession. Prior to joining Cell-Logic, Robert had established a successful naturopathic clinic in Far North Queensland in which he had practised for over a decade.
His regular presentations are inspirational, focusing on new developments in the field and with a special emphasis on the science of Nutrigenomics.
Robert’s in-depth knowledge, his diverse clinical experience and relaxed teaching style make him a popular presenter at Australian and international events.
